DAY 1 - Arriving in Vancouver
Upon arrival in Vancouver, you will transfer to your downtown hotel
(transfer not included). The rest of the day is yours to explore the
city and its attractions. Some of the most popular local attractions
include the Capilano Suspension Bridge & Tree Tops Adventure, Grouse
Mountain, Vancouver Aquarium, Stanley Park, Granville Island and the
Science Centre, not to mention many museums and the fantastic shops and
restaurants on Robson Street.
DAY 2 - Visiting Victoria
Cruise over to Vancouver Island and take in the floral wonderland of
Butchart Gardens and the serene parklands of Beacon Hill Park. A city
tour of Victoria completes today's journey in the late afternoon.
DAY 3 - Victoria to Port Hardy Sightseeing
This morning you will embark on a full day tour to Port Hardy by
motorcoach and make many stops along the way, including Duncan "City of
Totem Poles, Chemainus "City of Murals" and Cooms Deli (famous for their
goats that graze on the roof). Your journey is enhanced by views of the
Gulf Islands, vast farm lands, fishing villages and deep sea ports.
DAY 4 - Cruise to Prince Rupert
Your adventure northward begins with a morning transfer (included) to
the B.C. Ferries terminal for your ferry ride through the Inside Passage
to Prince Rupert. The 19.55 hour cruise provides ample opportunity to
see a wonderful array of snow-capped mountains and island vistas. Killer
whales, sea lions and playful porpoise often appear alongside.
DAY 5 - Arriving in Prince Rupert
After a 1.5 hour cruise around Kaien Island, the rest of the day is
yours to explore the quaint town of Prince Rupert, a bustling port town
with cruise ship docks, ferries to Alaska, Port Hardy and the Queen
Charlotte Islands as well as a starting point for VIA Rail's Skeena
train.
DAY 6 and 7 - VIA Rail's 'Skeena' to Prince George and Jasper
From waterways to railways ... a morning boarding of VIA Rail's 'Skeena'
begins your discovery of northern British Columbia's forested landscape.
Take advantage of the Skyline Car with its 360 degree views from the
dome or the casual atmosphere of the lounge car below as the train
gently weaves and winds its way to Prince George. The next morning,
continue on your rail journey aboard the "Skeena." You may see bald
eagles, black bears or moose from the windows of the train. Arriving
into Jasper this afternoon, a transfer will be waiting to shuttle you to
your hotel.
DAY 8 - Jasper to Banff Sightseeing
Today you will drive to Banff via Canada's most spectacular mountain
highway - the Icefields Parkway. A ride on an Ice Explorer onto the
Athabasca Glacier is included in your package (April 15 - October 15).
After a brief stop at Lake Louise, you will continue on to beautiful
Banff for an early evening arrival. Begin a two-night stay in Banff.
DAY 9 - Discovering Banff
This morning's excursion takes you through the town of Banff and its
environs. Visit the Cave & Basin National Historic Site (admission
included) and your final stop is at the Banff Gondola (included) for a
360 degree look at Banff and the Bow Valley.
DAY 10 - Departing Calgary
Transfer by Brewster scheduled airporter service to Calgary
International Airport to end your Totem Trail vacation.
